Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery

Vision 2024 and beyond

Holy Cross Cemetery was established in 1910. It was located just east of Highway 169 within the Crosier Tree Farm.

Over the years, the cemetery became prone to flooding.

In 1960, land was purchased for a new cemetery. Shortly after, Fr. Zok and his workers began moving the contents to the  current location just south of Onamia.

You may still visit the original cemetery.

Since 1960, Holy Cross Cemetery has seen a few changes - a blacktop driveway, a new sign and of course the trees have grown... A LOT!

In July of 2019, the altar was vandalized. Workers made an attempt to repair the damage, suspecting it may require more than just a repair.

Now, after years of serving as the focal point of Holy Cross Cemetery, the altar area is in need of replacement. The altar has been patched and repaired numerous times, and after the vandalism several years ago the Cemetery Board has decided that it is time to remove the altar, refurbish the Crucifix and renew, refresh and restore the dignity of this space.

We are working with a contractor within our ACC family. Together we have designed an ADA-compliant, ground-level setting that will provide more of a reflection area than a formal altar. The estimated cost of the project is $19,000.

Through this appeal, our goal is to raise enough money to fund this project. If you are reading this, you likely have family or a loved one buried at Holy Cross Cemetery. Any donation you and/or your extended family can give toward funding a portion of this project is needed and appreciated.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration,
